Turks and Caicos

January 26, 2017

My trip to Turks and Caicos (Providenciales) was one of the most relaxing trips I've been on. I spent most of my time laid out on the beach. Looking back, I definitely could have tried WAY more food places, but I did what I could!

Favorite Eats

The fresh conch salad I had on the snorkeling trip with Island Tours, was literally the BEST thing I ate the whole trip. But I am biased, because Conch Salad is a huge favorite of mine.

Out of all of the sit-down restaurants I tried while in Turks and Caicos, my favorite meal was at Da Conch Shack. I had their Jerk Ribs on my first night on the island and if I close my eyes, I can still taste the deliciousness! I also tried their Conch Fritters. Between you and I, Bajan fish cakes are way better.

The lunch spot with the best view had to be Las Brisas. We sat right on the water and it was so serene. I enjoyed their Conch Bisque and the Blackened Conch Sandwich. The soup was superb! I normally wouldn't think to order soup on a warm day, but I am so glad that I did. The sandwich came with fried yuca chips which were delightful. The restaurant had kayaking/canoeing options right next door too!

On our last night in paradise, we decided to splurge and went to Kitchen 218. The atmosphere was peaceful and the service was wonderful. There were a lot of options on the menu, and they had nice twists on island staples.

I got to pick and choose the specifics of my entree by going with the "Old Man and the Sea." For my selection I did the: snapper, grilled, jerk-spiced tropical salsa, plantain and sweet potato mash. One of my friends ordered the Jerk Pork Tenderloin, and it was the tastiest thing I tried at 218, next to their Bread Pudding that I had a bite of.

I think it goes without saying that you need to try the Rum Punch when you're on the island. Most places do a great job of mixing them, and if you're traveling with a group, getting a pitcher just makes the most sense! For me, my absolute favorite drink was at Danny Buoy's. I had their Vanilla Almond Colada. I will definitely try to recreate this drink-- it had Pina Colada, Absolut Vanilla, Amaretto Almond. So Yummy! The place itself was poppin-- there was a dj and dancing the whole night we were there.

The cheapest eats we had were at the Patty Place. I ate there twice and had the Chicken Patty with Coco Bread, both times! We also tried Bugaloo's, the Pork Shack, and a few other spots.
